Near Hotel
The hotel sits just at the center of Göreme, perched on a hillside which later forms an amphitheater-like valley. This spot marks the very heart of tourism within Cappadocia. Less than five minutes’ walk (downhill) from the main street where numerous carpet shops can be found together with pottery studios and restaurants offering “Pottery Kebab” (Testi Kebab). What elevates this hotel most literally above all others is its position high up on top another building’s rooftops giving it an unobstructed view over other skylines.
This is the perfect base from which to wander over to the Göreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site just twenty minutes’ walk (or three minutes’ drive) famed for its rock-cut churches and their frescoes. It is also very close to the beginning of the Love Valley and Pigeon Valley trails, so convenient for hikes straight out of your front door! Sunset Point (Aydın Kırağı), that well-known vantage spot, is up behind the town on a hill but quite accessible from this general area of hotel.
The vibe in the hood is both magical and hectic. Göreme is a town that wakes up before dawn. The sound of burners from hot air balloons directly overhead acts as a surreal alarm clock and defining experience here. In the evening, it is aglow with lights from hundreds of hotels cut into fairy chimneys—some nativity scene set come to life.
